Immune Sipport

Immune Support  consisting of 12 effective immune supporting
and building ingredients.

1. Cats claw (Uncaria tomentosa) has wonderful
immunomodulating properties, meaning it promotes balance
within the immune system. When the immune sytem is over
working it tones it down and when it is under working, it brings
it back up. This is very good therefore in addressing
Autoimmune responses. Cats claw is also a very effective anti-
inflammatory.

2. Cordyceps:  Cordyceps sinensis (dong chong xia ) has been
suggestedto possess anti-tumor, immunostimulant and
antioxidant activities. The chemical constituents for most
species include cordycepin (3'-de-oxyadenosine) and its
derivatives, ergosterol,polysaccharides, a glycoprotein and
peptides containing alpha-aminoisobutyric acid. Their benefits
are suggested to include anti-tumour, anti-metastatic,
immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal,
antimicrobial,hypolipidaemic, hypoglycaemic, anti-ageing,
neuroprotective and renoprotective effects. Polysaccharide
accounts forthe anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tumour, anti-
metastatic, immunomodulatory, hypoglycaemic, steroidogenic
andhypolipidaemic effects. Cordycepin contributes to the anti-
tumour, insecticidal and antibacterial activity. Ergosterol
exhibits anti-tumour and immunomodulatory activity.More about
Cordyceps sinensis Cordyceps sinensis, a well-known and
valued traditional Chinese medicine, is also called
DongChongXiaCao (winter worm summer grass) in Chinese. In
herbal medicient, it is commonly used to replenish the kidney
and soothe the lung and it is belived to benefit fatigue, night
sweating, hyposexualities, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia,
asthemia after severe illness, respiratory disease, renal
dysfunction and renal failure, arrhythmias and other heart
disease, and liver disease.

3.`Reshi (Ganoderma Lucidum) The triterpenes,
polysaccharides, and vitamins in reishi mushrooms are thought
to be responsible for their therapeutic effects, which include
the ability to increase blood flow, stimulates the immune cells.
and reduce inflammation. Reishi mushrooms contain
polysaccharides (complex sugar molecules) called Beta Glucans
that increase RNA and DNA in the bone marrow where immune
cells, like lymphocytes, are made. Lymphocytes are cells found
in the blood, lymph, and lymphoid tissues, which contain white
blood cells, T and B cells. Mushroom polysaccharides, the same
type of compounds found in astragalus, increase the activity of
macrophages, which have a voracious appetite for harmful
microorganisms and cancerous cells. Polysaccharides also
trigger the production of a type of white blood cell that kills a
wide range of infectious microorganisms and tumor cells.
Reishi mushrooms also have strong antioxidant properties,
which can protect the body from the harmful effects of radiation
and free radicals. They can be used to boost your immune
system and may also increase the effectiveness of antioxidant
vitamins when the two substances are used together.
Reishi mushrooms are believed to suppress tumor growth and
are often used in cancer prevention efforts for this reason.
Russian researchers at the Cancer Research Center in Moscow
have had positive results using reishi extracts to boost the
immunity of cancer patients.

4. Maitake (Grifola frondosa) First, mushrooms in general are
valuable health foods - low in calories, high in vegetable
proteins, chitin, iron, zinc, fiber, essential amino acids, vitamins
& minerals.
Second, Maitake mushrooms not only taste delicious, but are
known to strengthen your immune system . Extracts of maitake
mushrooms, particularly the beta glucan polysaccharide
constituent, have shown to stimulate immune properties,
resulting in producing anti-tumor effects.
According to Harry Preuss, M.D., a physiology professor at
Georgetown University School of Medicine, "Maitake is one of
nature's richest sources of beta glucans ... which are among, or
even may be, the most potent natural immune forces ever
discovered". Laboratory studies have shown that Maitake
mushroom extract can inhibit the growth of tumors and
stimulate the immune system of cancerous mice.
Finally, Maitake mushrooms are also rich in L-ergothioneine, a
potent compound produced by fungi that has strong antioxidant
properties and provide cellular protection within the human
body. They are anti-viral and may also reduce blood pressure
and blood sugar.

5. Agaricus blazei:  is the newest medicinal mushroom. Also
called the Royal Sun Agaricus, this medicinal mushroom was
first discovered in Brazil, where the native cultures prepared it
as a tea for medicinal purposes, but also ate it as a food.  They
have so much respect for this mushroom they call it "The
Mushroom of the Gods".
The agaricus blazei mushroom contains a special type of
polysaccharides known as beta glucans. Studies show that beta
glucan stimulates the activity of natural killer cells which are a
vital part of the immune system. These polysaccharides are
believed to be the most potent polysaccharides discovered so
far, given their ability to modulate the immune response and
promote cellular health.
In addition to the beta 1-3 glucan found in most medicinal
mushrooms, the Agaricus blazei mushroom also contains a
unique beta 1-6 glucan; this may explain the profound immune
supporting health benefits documented in the published
research.

6. Shiitake (Lentinula edodes)  is a edible fungus native to
Japan, China, and Korea. Shiitake mushrooms are the second
most commonly cultivated edible mushrooms in the world. This
mushroom has been licensed as a anti-cancer drug by the
Japanese FDA and extracts from the mushroom are used in
herbal remedies. They are valued both for their flavor as well as
their medicinal benefits.
Recent studies have traced shiitakes' legendary benefits to an
active compound contained in these mushrooms called
lentinan. Among lentinan's healing benefits is its ability to build
up the immune system, strengthening its ability to fight infection
and disease.
Lentinan (which is the name given a highly purified
polysaccharide fraction extracted from Shiitake mushrooms,) is
a beta glucan that is found in several mushrooms, bakers'
yeasts, and other foods. A polysaccharide is a large and
complex molecule made up of smaller sugar molecules. The
beta-glucan polysaccharide is believed to stimulate the immune
system and activate certain cells and proteins that attack
cancer, including macrophages, T-cells, and natural killer cells
(types of white blood cells). In lab studies, beta glucan appears
to slow the growth of cancer in some cell cultures.
In Japan, mushroom extracts have become the leading
prescription treatment for cancer. Lentinan is not only useful for
cancer treatment, but may also prevent the increase of
chromosomal damage induced by anti-cancer drugs. With
lentinan there are no known side effects of any serious nature.
A compound contained in shiitake mushrooms, lentinan, is
believed to stop or slow tumor growth. Another component,
activated hexose containing compound, is also said to reduce
tumor activity and lessen the side effects of cancer treatment.
Shiitake Found to be Top Food Source of Potent Antioxidant
L-ergothioneine, a powerful antioxidant, has been discovered in
mushrooms, thanks to a new analytical method capable of
identifying this antioxidant in plant material. In research
presented at the 2005 American Chemical Society meeting in
Washington, D.C., an American research team revealed that
mushrooms contain higher concentrations L-ergothioneine than
either of the two dietary sources previously believed to contain
the most: chicken liver and wheat germ.
Shiitake is also rich in several other anti-oxidants (Selenium,
Uric acid & Vitamin A, E, & C). They also provide us with
essential vitamins and minerals, among them A,B, B12, C, D and
Niacin. As a functional food, Shiitake mushrooms have all eight
essential amino acids in a higher, more condensed proportion
than soy beans, meat, milk or eggs.

7. Coriolus Versicolor: The immune health benefits have been
verified in hundreds of studies and dozens of human clinical
trials, making Coriolus versicolor one of the most thoroughly
researched medicinal mushrooms used for immune support.*
Coriolus versicolor is known as Yun zhi in China and
Kawaratake in Japan.  In the U.S. it is also known as the Turkey
Tail mushroom and by the scientific name Trametes versicolor.
Coriolus versicolor is probably the most common shelf fungus
in the world.

8. Lions mane: Lion's Mane Mushroom is one of the most
interesting medicinal mushrooms. The tea made from Lion’s
Mane mushrooms has been used for centuries in traditional
Japanese herbalism, primarily as a "tonic". The modern
scientific research now tells us it was the beta glucans in the
mushroom tea that were in fact offering immune support, among
other health benefits.

9. Polyporus Umbellatus: Although polyporus is mainly used in
China, Native Americans may have relied on this fungus for
food. Polyporus contains ergosterol and the polysaccharide I
(Gu I ) and is also rich in minerals such as potassium calcium,
magnesium and iron.
Potential Benefits of Polyporus: Immune enhancement, anti-
cancer/tumor and kidney support.

10. Tremilia fuciformis: The tremella medicinal mushroom
contains 70% dietary fibers such as acidic polysaccharides and
is very rich in vitamin D. This mushroom contains the bioactive
constituent’s glucuronoxylomannan and vitamin D.  Tremella
has been used as a cough syrup to treat chronic cough it is also
suitable for skin because it contains polysaccharides mannose,
xylose and glucuronic acid.
Potential Benefits: Immune enhancement, anti-cancer/tumor,
lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, liver support,
respiratory tonic, blood sugar balancing, complementary
treatment with radiation/chemo, anti-inflammatory and weight
loss.

11. Poria cocos: Poria cocos is a mushroom amphoteric in its
ability to help regulate either high or low, potassium and sodium
balance.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses Poria Cocos or Fu Ling to
remove spleen dampness.
Excessive dampness and deficiency of the spleen can be
indicated by poor appetite, diarrhea and lassitude.
The herb Poria Cocos is also used in herbal remedies for
insomnia, restlessness, fatigue, sleep disorder, tension, and
nervousness.
Poria cocos is also known as: Fu Ling, Poria, Tuckahoe, Indian
bread, or Hoelen.
Poria cocos supports the heart, spleen, and kidney meridians in
your body.

when they used Aloe Vera to
heal, and maintain their demanding lifestyles.  They knew the
healing power the
plant holds within, and those healing properties are great for
almost every single part
of your body.
Aloe Vera is what people call a "Systemic Cleanser."  It will clean
your liver, and is
good for digestion.  It has anti-inflammatory properties to
relieve pain.  It is also great
